“10(in Cantonese) +(in English)” = surprise

Now is the 2nd week into the new semester…. Every one here supposes to have a high spirit in doing their studies as most of us had the privilege to rest during the holidays. The new semester also bring a new beginning. What I meant here is that I’m now in my 3rd year of my studies in USM KKJ.. This fact is what haunts me most as I’m one year older and I have to be a mentor to my juniors knowing that I’m not prepared. Most of you who know me will come to know me as a small kid and I’m proud to be so.

Since it’s a new semester, I’m proud to name you few achievements that I’ve made in the 1st week in campus:

1. It was my 1st time of my 3years in this campus to sleep during my reinforce concrete lecture on Monday. I mean really-really sleep. I don’t know is it the teacher fault or mind… I wonder. Not any fishing in class. But I got a solid 20mimuit sleep then. Is this the beginning of my sleeping in class attitude??

2. It is proud to tell everyone that I’m back to my botak hair style!!

3. I would like to announce that it is fly season here in USM KKJ. And they will me my partner when I’m eating at the café. This image was shot when I was taking my food in café Jaya. They rap themselves into 2small balls… So cute!! Sure it will “increase” your appetite.

To Know Your Name

This is a song to start the new semester with. To remind us of His love for us. The effort that God himself made to make His name know to us by sending his Only Son to us to be nail on the cross.

To Know Your Name

Artis: Hillsong Album: Saviour King

Verse 1
The precious blood of Jesus Christ redeems
Forgiven I’m alive, restored set free
Your majesty resides inside of me,
Forever I believe.

Forever I believe.

Verse 2

Arrested by Your truth and righteousness
Your grace has overwhelmed my brokenness
Convicted by Your spirit, led by Your word

Your love will never fail
Your love will never fail

Chorus

‘Cause I know You gave,

The world your only Son for us

To know Your name,

To live within the Saviour’s love

And You took my place,

Knowing He’d be crucified

And You loved

You loved

People undeserving!

Back to SWEEP.

2weeks has pass, so it goes and the end of SWEEP 2007. Before all I would like to thank the people who supported me be it in financially or prayerfully. Also want to say thanks to FES and Shelter for making this program possible for people like me. Also not to forget the people in sweep! You will know who you are and I’m really blessed by having you guys in this program. Each and every one of you light up the place with who you are. (Esmond, Jia Hui, Liang, Adrian, Joy, Mark, Ye-Ling, Chee Kah, Florence, Helen, Wan Ling, Lydia and Su-Yen) without all of you I’m sure things will not be the same.

I was truly bless and thankful for being in this exposure program. I got to see things in a different way by looking thing as a whole by not looking at a narrow opening. I’ve learn that social work is part of a Christian life. Jesus spends most of His time in His ministry ministering to the hopeless, to the disable and so on.

In today’s society we Christians tend to spend too much time in church and neglect those who are in need out there. We focus too much on evangelism (not to say I don’t agree with evangelism) but there must be a balance to every thing we do. A lot of Christian including me can preach very well but can’t act out what they say.

Another thing that I’ve learned is that there are ample of opportunities to involve themselves in helping the society. Not only through NGOs but by just having to get a job in the government sector is a good start. The method to evangelise and witness to people around us is not the matter of carrying the bible in your hands but to also practice and do what it says.

Overall, I’m thankful that I’m in this SWEEP program. Many of us in the program thought that we will bless the community by just being there to help, but it turns out to be the other way. We in return being blessed more than we gave always. Thanks.
